A four-day training for 10 Master Trainers was conducted in June 2024, in Patna, Bihar, aimed to equip community mobilisers and trainers from the grassroots, with comprehensive knowledge and skills to facilitate community-based disaster management and promote gender sensitivity.
The participants engaged in a vision-building exercise to reflect on the impact of floods and the changes they wished to see in their communities.
The workshop included an overview of the Panchayati Raj System, and the role of Gram Panchayat Members in addressing various social issues. Exercises on mapping the village, disaster awareness, flood preparedness and safety were insightful for the participants. The module on Understanding Gender Equality Using a Lifecycle Approach emphasised that gender equality is a human right, and an important pre-condition to sustainable development.
Post the workshop, these Master Trainers will now be allocated to different blocks of Darbhanga to impart the same training to elected women representatives.
